How to submit your picks
A bunch of people have asked, so here’s the info.
Submitting your weekly picks
Here’s how to submit your picks for this season:
You’ll be emailing your picks to picks@zebrapool.com. Each person should be submitting their own picks. I am not responsible if you fat finger the email address, and it doesn’t arrive at that dedicated mailbox.
If you have multiple picks, be sure to number your picks. For example:
1. Bears
2. Eagles
3. Packers
If you don’t number your picks, I will take the liberty of assigning them for you.
If you do not have your name shown in the From field, you must include your name at the top of the picks email. If you aren’t sure, send an email to yourself and see if the from line looks like “From: John Doe <john.doe@myemail.com>”. If you still aren’t sure, include your name anyway. Otherwise I will waste time manually looking up your email address, and that will not make me a happy camper.
The weekly deadlines
I’m going to stress your responsibility in the players (you) knowing the weekly deadlines because that has been the biggest point of aggravation (for me) in previous years. In the weekly blog entries (which I try my best to post on the Tuesday after all of the week’s games are over), I have been and will continue to include the pick submission deadline for the following week, but it is still your responsibility to get your picks in on time. All of the weeks’ deadlines are listed on the rules page for the entire season.
I would highly recommend that you do not wait until the last minute (or even the last day) to send your picks. I’ve seen a lot of different things happen in past years. For example there was one case last year where the deadline is 10am, but someone sent their picks email at 9:45am but it didn’t arrive in my mailbox until 10:15am. I’m not responsible for your email bouncing around the internet for X minutes. When you click Send, it does not instantly show up in my mailbox.
There was another case a couple years ago where someone sent the email via Outlook on their laptop but forgot they weren’t connected to the internet. It sat in draft mode in Outlook until Sunday afternoon, well past the deadline. Big whoops on their part but also not my problem.
And the stories go on and on.
And in conclusion…
Okay, enough of the serious stuff. Time to have some fun!
The 197 people signed up as of tonight is already 30% more than we had last year, and there’s still a week and a half left to sign up. Of course, not everyone’s paid yet (their names are in italics), and every year I get a few people that sign up but don’t pay; last year I think it was only 5-6.
If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to sign up soon. Paypal is still preferred, cuz there’s a nice paper trail. For next year, I’m seriously considering moving to Paypal-only. Having to deal with checks and money orders is a big hassle cuz my credit union isn’t convenient. After you sign up, you will receive instructions on how to pay the entry fees.
8 days to go until kickoff!
Remember, all picks for week one are due at 10am ET on Sunday.

Hello Bill,
When you submit your picks, are they “set in stone” and can not be changed?
For example, if I were to pick a team, say today, and then tomorrow a key player gets injured in practice and is out for the next couple of games, can I switch my pick?
Just wondering what your thoughts are. I’m sure you want a minimal amount of email traffic but things do happen.
Thanks, Eric

Yeah, things to do happen and if you need to change your pick, just send the change in before the same deadline. As long as it doesn’t become a habit and isn’t abused, I don’t mind cuz I totally understand, especially with last minute injury reports on Sunday mornings.
Also, you guys probably want to also remember who your picks are, and keep updated on any potential news that may affect your game. We had a situation last year where the Texans-Ravens game got postponed due to Hurricane Ike, but the announcement wasn’t made until Saturday afternoon. So anyone who picked either of those two teams had to make another pick at the last minute.

do you agree that the Seahawks will win 12 games this year?

I say Seahawks go 9-7… MAYBE 10-6 at best. Which for the NFC, might just get them in playoffs.

winning 12 games in the NFC West is like kissing your cousin, it doesn’t count!
