Week nine recap

Well, Rodgers threw more INTs against the previously winless Buccaneers to knock out the 17 players that picked the Packers.  Looks like the Tampa might have finally found a real quarterback.

So let’s take a quick look to see who everyone’s been picking so far. Through nine weeks, NFC teams lead the AFC in times picked: NFC teams have been picked 1390 times, AFC 1007.  Without breaking down the actual matchups, that could mean one of two things: There’s more disparity in the NFC than the AFC (if they were intra-conference games) or the NFC is stronger than the AFC (if they were inter-conference games).

The NFC East leads all divisions, having its teams been picked 560 times so far, led by the Eagles with 207.  The NFC North comes in second with 418, led by the Packers with 176.  The closest AFC division is the AFC North with 349. Tops in the AFC are the Ravens with 204.

On the other hand, losses by NFC teams are also responsible for knocking out more players. NFC teams account for 225 losses (out of 1390, that’s 16.2%)  in the pool, AFC is 126 (12.5%). With the lower chance of losing, are AFC picks more reliable?

Not surprisingly the same two NFC leaders show up again in this stat category. The Packers are responsible for the most, at 91, having already lost twice as heavy favorites.  The Eagles come in second at 73, primarily due to their inexplicable loss to the Raiders in week six.

Anyhoo, on with the show.  All picks this week are due Sunday at 10am ET.  However, if you want to pick in the Thursday night game, I must have your pick by Thursday at 5pm ET.

Also, another reminder: In two weeks is Thanksgiving, and all picks that week are due Thursday morning, not Sunday morning!!!
