...or instead of the "best favorite" or "biggest underdog", how about having the computer pick a team that you haven't picked at random? You don't make a pick yourself? You takes your chances.

I like Stephen B's idea, if you fail to get your team in then have the computer assign the biggest underdog.

Have you considered altering the way you 'assign' a pick when a person fails to submit one on their own? As it currently stands, your site uses the following method: "available team = favored team that the player hasn’t used yet". With this format, it's quite possible that a player could never submit a pick, yet still advance week after week. In fact, we've seen numerous instances this year where a player was bailed out with an assigned favorite and advanced. If you're not interested in simply booting a player who fails to submit a pick (that's what I'd do if it were my pool - I don't have time for players who don't pay attention), my suggestion is to assign the biggest 'dog' of the week. Sure they'd still have a chance to advance (don't laugh, but Oakland and Tampa come to mind on more than one occasion), but it wouldn't be very likely. And it could certainly help with weeding out deadbeat players at the end of the year. If there are any complaints, they have no one but themselves to blame.

Just a thought.

Man I wanted to pick the Browns. I had them in the email and my cursor hovering over the send button but I just couldn't do it.
